- Line posts for a 6 ft fence: 30–40 inches deep
- Corner, end, and gate posts: 36–48 inches deep, and larger diameter
- Hole diameter for line posts: 8–12 inches
- Hole diameter for corner/gate posts: 12–18 inches
Going deeper than the bare minimum matters more here than in milder climates.
